Welcome to Farr West Elementary School Choir!
We are going to have so much FUN!!
If you are visiting for the first time, make sure to click the Student tab in the Menu Bar to find all of the Choir information in the drop-down menu!
This type of choir is not your regular, everyday kind of children’s choir. We implement harmonies, performance technique, props, costumes, scenery, skits, instruments, solos, choreography, and even dancing for those who choose. It’s a SHOW CHOIR! Fantastic, youth-appropriate music is chosen. Kids learn vocal technique, rhythm, basic choreography, how to perform, how to be more confident! These skills will carry them through their whole life in all aspects, whether they continue in performing or not.
This environment is for learning! If your student doesn’t know how to sing, play an instrument, talk in the mic, or pick up choreography, etc, then this is the right place for him or her! On the other hand, if he or she has been trained in a performing skill, that skill can be finetuned with this opportunity. We work with all capacities.
This experience is to have fun with all aspects of music. Beyond supporting students’ growing musical skills, positive interaction with the power of music will also teach the art of being in front of people, leadership skills, confidence in who they are and what they have to offer the world, teamwork, and research shows that it even improves academics!! From personal experience, we can attest that all of this has and will happen for those involved!!
GETTING TO KNOW THE DIRECTORS:
Hello! My name is Connie Starks, the Farr West Choir Director. I have taught music in many capacities for many years. I have lifelong experience on the stage and creating shows and events of all kinds. Our creative director, Cammie Yorgason, has been incredible and is great at putting shows together! Very talented and creative! Tracy Brinley has been our instrument coordinator for a few years now, and this year she is also joining the staff at Farr West Elementary as an aide! We’re so happy to continue to work with her! There are also many on the crew that have helped all the craziness happen and we’re grateful for their time and talents! What a gift they are giving to the children!
